Our Pathways and Choice programs provide the students with a "voice & choice" in their education. Supported by a foundation of alternative or differentiated pathways to success and graduation, students who may prefer to work in a different environment from traditional "bricks & mortar" schools are encouraged to explore a plethora of options in Career Education (supported by South Island Partnerships though Camosun College), Dual Credit courses, Outdoor Education, Blended & On-line course options, and Adult or Continuing Education programs.
Some of the highlights include:
- Westshore Secondary School – Colwood & Sooke Campuses – Alternate Cohort, Individual Learning Program, Take a Hike
- SD62 Career Ed - opportunities such as TASK (Trades Awareness & Skill), SIP (South Island Partnership) programs, and Dual Credit options
- Work Experience & Training, Youth Work in Trades, and Youth Train in Trades
- SD62 Online & SD62 Continuing Ed
SD62's Pathways & Choice programs are designed in partnership with the Belmont Secondary, Edward Milne Community School, and Royal Bay Secondary, Westshore Secondary, as well as the South Island Partnership made up of Camosun College and School Districts of Greater Victoria (61), Saanich (63), Gulf Islands (64), & Cowichan (79).
Aligned with our District's Strategic Plan, Pathways & Choice aims to: Provide all students with more choices of how, when, and where their learning takes place. There are multiple routes to graduation and greater opportunities for practical and "hands on" learning.
