Health & Safety
Under guidance from the provincial government, Provincial Health Officer, the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) and our local health authority, SD62 schools have strict health and safety measures to ensure the safety of our staff and students. These include:
- Frequent hand washing
- Added sanitization stations
- Hand sanitizers in all portable classrooms
- Mask are optional
- Floor markings and/or signage to address traffic flow
- Trust in parents, students and staff to stay home if they feel ill
- 100% occupancy in all spaces
Inclusive Education Services
Most students with disabilities/diverse abilities or medical complexity are not considered at greater risk of
experiencing severe illness from COVID-19. For guidelines specific to children with immune suppression
(e.g. students who have had a recent organ transplant, who are receiving chemotherapy, those with an
illness impacting their immune system), please refer to the K-12 Education Recovery Plan (p.5).
Complex Medical Conditions
Parents/guardians of children with complex medical conditions or underlying risk factors should consult with their healthcare provider to determine their child’s level of risk regarding returning to school. Subsequently, parents/guardians may wish to reach out to the principal or support teacher (case manager) of their current school to discuss available options and support.
International Travel
We follow the federal travel guidelines for COVID-19. It is the responsibility of families to be aware of and understand the current federal and provincial guidelines around travel. Please coordinate with your teacher and school before travelling to ensure your child stays up to date with any missed schoolwork.
