Westshore Colwood

Westshore is an alternate school within SD62. As such, the majority of our students are referred to us through an intake process. Two Thirds of our students are "designated" though our Learning Support programs. This is significantly higher than the SD62 average. Nearly 40% of our students identify as Aboriginal, again significantly higher than the SD62 average. An anecdotal survey of our student population shows a large portion who are socially anxious, this portion growing through the pandemic. A common thread running through our student population is that for a variety of reasons, they did not find success in a "regular" school, and we need to build a trusting relationship to foster a sense of place and hopefully school success.
